చెరకు అంటే తీయని రసం గల పొడవైన కణుపుల కాండం గల పంట మొక్క; దీని రసం నుంచి బెల్లం, చక్కెర చేస్తారు.

Cheraku means sugarcane: a tall jointed crop plant whose sweet juice is made into jaggery and sugar.
