ధ్వని అంటే చెవికి వినిపించే శబ్దం; సాహిత్య విమర్శలో మాటల వెనుక సూచితమయ్యే అర్థం అనే సాంకేతిక అర్థం కూడా ఉంది.

Dhvani means sound, what is heard by the ear; in literary criticism it also has a technical sense of a meaning suggested beyond the literal words.

  1. చెవికి వినిపించే శబ్దం.

    Sound: what the ear hears; a noise or tone.

    • గంట ధ్వని దూరం వరకు వినిపించింది. — The sound of the bell could be heard far away.

  2. సాహిత్య విమర్శలో, మాటల ప్రత్యక్ష అర్థానికి మించి సూచించబడే అర్థం (సంప్రదాయ అలంకార శాస్త్రంలో; సరిచూడాలి).
