వ్యాకరణంలో రెండు పదాలు కలిసేటప్పుడు ఏర్పడే అక్షర మార్పు; అలాగే ఇరు పక్షాల మధ్య కుదిరే ఒప్పందం.

In grammar, the change of sounds when two words join; also, a truce or peace agreement between two sides.

అర్థాలు Senses

  1. వ్యాకరణంలో రెండు పదాలు కలిసేటప్పుడు మొదటి పదం చివరి అక్షరం, రెండో పదం మొదటి అక్షరం కలిసి మారే విధానం.

    Sandhi (grammar): the process by which the last sound of one word and the first sound of the next combine and change when the two words join.

    • మూడు, ఏళ్ళు కలిసి మూడేళ్ళు అవడం సంధికి ఒక ఉదాహరణ. — The joining of మూడు and ఏళ్ళు into మూడేళ్ళు is an example of sandhi.

  2. పోరాడుతున్న రెండు పక్షాలు పోరు ఆపి కుదుర్చుకునే ఒప్పందం.

    Truce or treaty: an agreement by which two opposing sides stop fighting.

    • రెండు రాజ్యాలు సంధి చేసుకుని యుద్ధాన్ని ఆపాయి. — The two kingdoms made a treaty and ended the war.
