C. P. Brown was a 19th-century English official and scholar of Telugu language and literature, best known for his Telugu dictionary, a Telugu grammar, his collection of Vemana's verses and his work preserving old Telugu manuscripts (subject to verification).

Charles Philip Brown is generally said to have been born in 1798 and to have died in 1884 (subject to verification). He served as an official of the East India Company in the Madras Presidency, and is said to have been closely associated with the Kadapa region (subject to verification). He learned Telugu and worked to preserve and publish its literature. Telugu speakers respectfully call him Brown Dora.

Brown compiled a Telugu–English dictionary and an English–Telugu dictionary, and also wrote a grammar of Telugu (subject to verification). He is said to have collected and published the verses of Vemana, introducing Vemana widely (subject to verification). He is also said to have gathered manuscripts of Telugu poems, had them copied, and published some of them (subject to verification).
