Bhadrachalam Ramadasu (Kancharla Gopanna)

భద్రాచల రామదాసు (అసలు పేరు కంచర్ల గోపన్న) తెలుగు వాగ్గేయకారుడు, శ్రీరామభక్తుడు. సుమారు 17వ శతాబ్దంలో జీవించాడని సంప్రదాయంగా చెబుతారు (సరిచూడాలి). భద్రాచలంలోని శ్రీ సీతారామచంద్రస్వామి ఆలయంతో ఆయన పేరు విడదీయరానిది.

A Telugu devotional poet-composer, born Kancherla Gopanna, devoted to Lord Rama and inseparably linked with the Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple at Bhadrachalam; traditionally placed in around the 17th century (subject to verification).

ఎవరు Who they were

Ramadasu is famously known as Kancherla Gopanna by birth name, and was called Ramadasu as a devotee of Rama. Tradition places him in around the 17th century (subject to verification). According to the traditional account he served as an official under the Golconda kingdom of the time and took part in building the Bhadrachalam temple; the details of this account need to be verified.

Ramadasu's works are chiefly devotional kirtanas to Lord Rama, songs made to be sung and known as the Ramadasu kirtanas. The Dasarathi Satakam is also traditionally attributed to him (subject to verification). The number of these works and the exact list of what is his are not given here.

తెలుగు సాహిత్యంలో స్థానం Place in Telugu literature

రామదాసు తెలుగు భక్తి సంగీత సంప్రదాయంలో ముఖ్యమైన వాగ్గేయకారులలో ఒకరు. ఆయన కీర్తనలను భజనలలో, కచేరీలలో, ఆలయ ఉత్సవాలలో విస్తృతంగా పాడతారు. భద్రాచలంలో శ్రీరామనవమి కల్యాణోత్సవం ప్రసిద్ధమైనది, అక్కడ ఆయన స్మరణ ప్రత్యేకంగా ఉంటుంది.

Ramadasu is one of the important composers of the Telugu devotional music tradition. His kirtanas are widely sung in bhajans, concerts and temple festivals. The Sri Rama Navami wedding festival at Bhadrachalam is well known, and his memory has a special place there.
