రాయప్రోలు సుబ్బారావు 20వ శతాబ్దపు మొదటి భాగంలో ప్రసిద్ధి చెందిన తెలుగు కవి, భావకవిత్వ ధోరణికి తొలి దశలో బాట వేసినవారిలో ఒకరిగా భావిస్తారు. ప్రేమ, ప్రకృతి, దేశభక్తి వంటి విషయాలపై భావుకతతో కూడిన కవిత్వం రాశారు.

A Telugu poet prominent in the first half of the 20th century, regarded as one of those who prepared the way for the Bhavakavitvam (Romantic) trend; he wrote lyrical poetry on love, nature and patriotism.

రాయప్రోలు సుబ్బారావు 1892లో జన్మించి 1984లో మరణించారని సాధారణంగా చెబుతారు. కవిగా, సాహిత్య విమర్శకునిగా, పండితునిగా ప్రసిద్ధులు. ఆధునిక కాలంలో తెలుగు కవిత్వానికి కొత్త దిశ చూపిన కవులలో ఒకరిగా ఆయనను గుర్తు చేసుకుంటారు.

Rayaprolu Subba Rao is generally said to have been born in 1892 and to have died in 1984. He is known as a poet, a literary critic and a scholar, and is remembered among the poets who gave Telugu poetry a new direction in the modern period.

ప్రసిద్ధ రచనలు Best-known works

తృణకంకణం, జడకుచ్చులు, రమ్యాలోకం ఆయన ప్రసిద్ధ రచనలుగా పేర్కొంటారు (సరిచూడాలి). ఇవి భావుకత గల కవితా సంపుటాలు, కవిత్వం గురించిన రచనలు. మాతృభూమిపై ప్రేమను చాటే ఒక ప్రసిద్ధ దేశభక్తి గేయం ఆయన రాశారని కూడా చెబుతారు (సరిచూడాలి).

Trunakankanam, Jadakuchchulu and Ramyalokam are named among his best-known works (subject to verification). They are collections of lyrical poetry and writing about poetry. He is also said to have written a well-known patriotic poem on love of the motherland (subject to verification).

సుబ్బారావు భావకవిత్వం తొలి దశలోని ప్రముఖ కవులలో ఒకరు. సంప్రదాయ పద్యరీతులను నిలుపుకుంటూనే వ్యక్తిగత అనుభూతులకు, ప్రకృతికి చోటిచ్చిన కవిత్వం ఆయనది. భావకవిత్వానికి ఆయన ఏ మేరకు ముందు నడిచారన్నది విమర్శకుల వివరణాత్మక అభిప్రాయం.

Subba Rao is one of the prominent poets of the early phase of Bhavakavitvam. His poetry kept traditional verse forms while making room for personal feeling and nature. How far he led the way for Bhavakavitvam is a matter of critical interpretation.
