Srinatha

శ్రీనాథుడు సుమారు 14వ శతాబ్దం చివర నుంచి 15వ శతాబ్దం మధ్య వరకు ఉన్న తెలుగు కవి. శృంగార నైషధం, కాశీఖండం, భీమఖండం, హరవిలాసం వంటి రచనలకు ప్రసిద్ధుడు; సంప్రదాయంగా "కవిసార్వభౌముడు" అని పిలుస్తారు.

Srinatha was a Telugu poet who lived roughly from the late 14th to the mid 15th century. He is known for works such as Srungara Naishadham, Kasikhandam, Bhimakhandam and Haravilasam, and is traditionally called Kavisarvabhauma, "emperor among poets".

శ్రీనాథుడు సుమారు 14వ శతాబ్దం చివర నుంచి 15వ శతాబ్దం మధ్య వరకు జీవించిన కవి; నిర్దిష్ట సంవత్సరాలను ఇక్కడ ఇవ్వడం లేదు (సరిచూడాలి). ఆయన కొండవీటి రెడ్డి రాజుల ఆస్థానంతో సంబంధం కలవాడని, తరువాత విజయనగర రాజుల సభలలో కూడా గౌరవం పొందాడని సంప్రదాయం చెబుతుంది (సరిచూడాలి). ఆయన జీవితం గురించి అనేక కథలు ప్రచారంలో ఉన్నాయి; వాటిలో చాలావాటికి సాక్ష్యం స్పష్టంగా లేదు, కనుక ఇక్కడ చేర్చలేదు.

Srinatha lived roughly from the late 14th to the mid 15th century; exact years are not given here (subject to verification). Tradition connects him with the court of the Reddi kings of Kondaveedu and says he was later honoured in Vijayanagara circles too (subject to verification). Many stories about his life are in circulation, but the evidence for most of them is unclear, so they are not included here.

ప్రసిద్ధ రచనలు Best-known works

శృంగార నైషధం శ్రీహర్షుని సంస్కృత కావ్యమైన నైషధీయ చరితానికి తెలుగు రూపం. కాశీఖండం, భీమఖండం సంస్కృత స్కాంద పురాణంలోని భాగాల కథలను చెప్పే తెలుగు కావ్యాలు. హరవిలాసం శివుని లీలలను వివరించే కావ్యం; పల్నాటి వీరచరిత్ర పల్నాటి వీరుల కథను చెప్పే ద్విపద కావ్యం.

Srungara Naishadham is a Telugu rendering of the Sanskrit poem Naishadhiyacharita by Sriharsha. Kasikhandam and Bhimakhandam are Telugu poems retelling parts of the Sanskrit Skanda Purana. Haravilasam is a poem on the sportive deeds of Shiva, and Palnati Veeracharitra is a dwipada poem on the heroes of Palnadu.

తెలుగు సాహిత్యంలో స్థానం Place in Telugu literature

శ్రీనాథుడు ప్రబంధ యుగానికి ముందు కాలపు ప్రముఖ కవులలో ఒకరిగా పరిగణించబడతాడు. ఆయన శృంగార నైషధం పండితులకు ఇష్టమైన కావ్యంగా పేరుపొందింది. రాజుల సభలు, ఊళ్ల జీవితం, సరసమైన చమత్కారాలతో కూడిన పద్యాలు ఆయనవిగా ప్రచారంలో ఉన్నాయి; అయితే వీటిలో ఏవి నిజంగా ఆయనవో నిర్ధారించడం కష్టం (సరిచూడాలి).

Srinatha is regarded as one of the leading poets of the period before the Prabandha age. His Srungara Naishadham became a favourite among learned readers. Verses on royal courts, village life and playful wit are popularly credited to him, but it is hard to say which ones are truly his (subject to verification).
