వ్యాఖ్యానం అంటే ఒక గ్రంథంలోని పదాలు, భావాలు, అర్థాలను వివరించే రచన. ప్రాచీన కావ్యాలను అర్థం చేసుకోవడానికి టీకలు, తాత్పర్యాలు వంటి వ్యాఖ్యానాలు ఉపయోగపడతాయి.
A vyakhyanam is a commentary: a work that explains the words, ideas and meanings of another text. Commentaries such as tikas and tatparyams help readers understand classical works.

వ్యాఖ్యానం అంటే మూల గ్రంథాన్ని పాఠకునికి అర్థమయ్యేలా వివరించే రచన. పదాల అర్థం (ప్రతిపదార్థం), మొత్తం భావం (తాత్పర్యం), టీక వంటివి వ్యాఖ్యాన రూపాలుగా చెప్పవచ్చు.
A vyakhyanam explains a primary text so that readers can understand it. Word-by-word meaning (pratipadartham), overall sense (tatparyam) and tika can be counted among its forms.
