1. భాషలో అర్థం కలిగి ఉండే ఒక మాట; వాక్యంలోని ఒక భాగం.

   Word: a meaningful unit of a language, a part of a sentence.

   • ఈ వాక్యంలో ఎన్ని పదాలు ఉన్నాయి? — How many words are there in this sentence?
   • ఈ పదానికి అర్థం నిఘంటువులో చూడు. — Look up the meaning of this word in the dictionary.

2. సంప్రదాయ సంగీత సాహిత్యంలో ఒక రకం గేయ రచన; ఉదాహరణకు క్షేత్రయ్య పదాలు (సరిచూడాలి).

   In traditional music and literature, a kind of lyrical song composition, as in the Kshetrayya padalu (subject to verification).

   Literary and musical sense, not the everyday one.

3. అడుగు (కొన్ని సమాసాలలో); ఉదాహరణకు పదయాత్ర అంటే కాలినడకన చేసే ప్రయాణం.

   A step, mainly in compounds; for example padayatra means a journey made on foot.

   • ఆ నాయకుడు పది రోజులు పదయాత్ర చేశాడు. — The leader made a journey on foot for ten days.
