పుణ్యం అంటే మంచి పని, దాని వల్ల కలిగే శుభ ఫలం; పవిత్రమైనది.

Punyam means merit: a good deed and the good result it is believed to bring; also what is sacred.

అర్థాలు Senses

  1. మంచి పని చేసినందువల్ల కలుగుతుందని నమ్మే శుభ ఫలం.

    Merit: the good result believed to follow a good deed.

    • పేదలకు అన్నదానం చేస్తే పుణ్యం వస్తుందని అంటారు. — It is said that giving food to the poor earns merit.

  2. మంచి పని; పవిత్రమైన కార్యం.

    A good, sacred or virtuous act.

    ఈ అర్థంలో "పుణ్య క్షేత్రం", "పుణ్య కార్యం" వంటి కూర్పులలో ఎక్కువగా కనిపిస్తుంది (సరిచూడాలి).

    • నదీ స్నానం పుణ్యకార్యమని చాలామంది నమ్ముతారు. — Many people believe that bathing in a river is a sacred act.
