Nandi Timmana

నంది తిమ్మన 16వ శతాబ్దం తొలి భాగంలో శ్రీకృష్ణదేవరాయల కాలంలో ప్రసిద్ధుడైన తెలుగు కవి. పారిజాతాపహరణము అనే ప్రబంధ కావ్యం ఈయన రచనగా ప్రసిద్ధి. సంప్రదాయంలో ఈయనను "ముక్కు తిమ్మన" అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు.

A Telugu poet of the time of Krishnadevaraya, around the early 16th century, best known for the prabandha Parijatapaharanamu. He is also traditionally called Mukku Timmana.

Nandi Timmana was a Telugu poet who, by tradition, was associated with the court of Krishnadevaraya around the early 16th century. His name usually appears in the traditional Ashtadiggajas list, which is not the same in every account. He is also known by the name Mukku Timmana; the stories about how he got that name are traditional anecdotes and are left out here. His birth and death years and birthplace are not given (subject to verification).

ప్రసిద్ధ రచనలు Best-known works

ఈయన ప్రసిద్ధ రచన పారిజాతాపహరణము. ఇది శ్రీకృష్ణుడు సత్యభామ కోసం పారిజాత వృక్షాన్ని తెచ్చిన పౌరాణిక కథను చెప్పే ప్రబంధం. ఈ కావ్యంలో సత్యభామ ప్రణయ కలహం, కృష్ణుని అనునయం ప్రధానంగా వర్ణించబడ్డాయి. ఈ కావ్యం శ్రీకృష్ణదేవరాయలకు అంకితమైనదని సంప్రదాయం చెబుతుంది (సరిచూడాలి).

His best-known work is Parijatapaharanamu, a prabandha that tells the Puranic story of Krishna bringing the parijata tree for Satyabhama. The poem centres on the quarrel between Satyabhama and Krishna and on his efforts to win her over. Tradition says it is dedicated to Krishnadevaraya (subject to verification).

The Parijatapaharanamu of Timmana is often mentioned among the kavyas of the prabandha age, and its portrayal of Satyabhama is often discussed. Other evaluations of his poetry are not given here.
