నిర్వచనం Definition

రీతి అంటే కావ్యంలో పదాలను అమర్చే విశిష్టమైన తీరు, అంటే శైలి. కావ్యానికి రీతి ఆత్మ అని చెప్పిన సిద్ధాంతం వామనునితో ముడిపడి ఉంది.

సంప్రదాయంగా చెప్పే మూడు రీతులు:

వైదర్భీ రీతి: మృదువైన, స్పష్టమైన పదబంధంతో, సమాసాలు తక్కువగా ఉండే శైలిగా సాధారణంగా వర్ణిస్తారు.

గౌడీ రీతి: పొడవైన సమాసాలు, గంభీరమైన, బలమైన పదబంధంతో ఉండే శైలిగా వర్ణిస్తారు.

పాంచాలీ రీతి: ఈ రెండింటి మధ్యస్థంగా ఉండే శైలిగా చెబుతారు.

Riti is the distinctive manner in which the words of a poem are arranged, that is, its style. The theory that riti is the soul of poetry is associated with Vamana.

The three ritis traditionally named are:

Vaidarbhi: generally described as a smooth and clear style with few long compounds.

Gaudi: described as a style with long compounds and a weighty, forceful diction.

Panchali: described as lying between the two.

ఉపయోగం Where it is used

ఒక కవి లేదా రచన శైలిని వర్ణించడానికి రీతి అనే భావన వాడతారు. పదాల ఎంపిక, సమాసాల ఎక్కువతక్కువలు, ధ్వని ఈ శైలులను నిర్ణయిస్తాయి. సాహిత్య విమర్శలో 'రీతి' అనే మాటను కొన్నిసార్లు సాధారణ అర్థంలో, అంటే రచనా విధానం అనే అర్థంలో కూడా వాడతారు.

The idea of riti is used to describe the style of a poet or a work. The choice of words, and how many compounds are used, shape these styles. In literary criticism the word "riti" is sometimes also used in a general sense, as the manner of writing.

గమనికలు Notes

ఇక్కడ విస్తృతంగా బోధించే సాధారణ వర్ణనలు మాత్రమే ఇచ్చాం; ఈ రీతులు ఏ గుణాలతో ముడిపడి ఉన్నాయి, వేర్వేరు ఆలంకారికులు వాటిని ఎలా వర్ణించారు అనే వివరాల్లో భేదాలున్నాయి. సిద్ధాంతకర్తల కాలం వంటి వివరాలు ఇవ్వలేదు. ఈ మూడు రీతుల పేర్లు ప్రాంతాల పేర్ల నుంచి వచ్చాయని చెబుతారు, కానీ అవి ఆ ప్రాంతాల కవులందరి శైలిని సూచించవు.

Only the broad descriptions that are widely taught are given; there are differences in which qualities (gunas) the ritis are tied to and in how different theorists describe them. Details such as the dates of the theorists are not given. The names of the three ritis are said to come from names of regions, but they do not describe the style of all poets of those regions.
