1. గడిచిపోతూ ఉండే సమయం; గతం, వర్తమానం, భవిష్యత్తు అనే విభాగాలతో చెప్పే కొలత.

   Time; the continuing passage of moments, spoken of as past, present and future.

   • కాలం ఎవరి కోసమూ ఆగదు. — Time waits for no one.

2. సంవత్సరంలో ఒక భాగం; ఋతువు.

   A season or a part of the year, usually found in compounds.

   సాధారణంగా సమాసాల్లో వస్తుంది: వర్షాకాలం, వేసవికాలం, చలికాలం.

   • వర్షాకాలంలో చెరువులు నిండుతాయి. — In the rainy season the tanks fill up.

3. వ్యాకరణంలో క్రియ జరిగే సమయాన్ని తెలిపే రూపం; భూత, వర్తమాన, భవిష్యత్ కాలాలు.

   In grammar, the tense of a verb; the past, present and future tenses.

   వ్యాకరణ అర్థంలో భూతకాలం, వర్తమానకాలం, భవిష్యత్కాలం అని చెబుతారు.

   • భూతకాలం జరిగిపోయిన పనిని తెలుపుతుంది. — The past tense tells of an action that has already happened.
