Navala (novel)
నవల అంటే పెద్ద పరిమాణంలో, అనేక పాత్రలు, సంఘటనలతో సాగే సుదీర్ఘ వచన కథనం. తెలుగులో ఇది ఆధునిక కాలంలో ప్రాచుర్యం పొందిన రూపం.

నిర్వచనం Definition
నవల అనేది వచనంలో రాసిన పెద్ద కథనం. కథ కంటే పెద్దదిగా ఉండి, పాత్రల అభివృద్ధికి, కథాంశం విస్తరణకు ఎక్కువ అవకాశం ఇస్తుంది.

లక్షణాలు Characteristics
నవలల్లో సాధారణంగా అధ్యాయాలు, ప్రధాన కథతో పాటు ఉపకథలు, అనేక పాత్రలు ఉంటాయి. చారిత్రక, సాంఘిక, గూఢచారి వంటి రకాలుగా నవలలను వర్గీకరించడం కనిపిస్తుంది.
Novels usually have chapters, a main story with sub-plots, and many characters. They are often grouped into kinds such as historical, social and detective novels.

తెలుగులో నవల ఆధునిక కాలంలో (సుమారు 19వ శతాబ్దం నుంచి అని చెబుతారు; సరిచూడాలి) విస్తరించిన రూపం. మొదటి నవల ఏది అనే ప్రశ్న వివాదాస్పదం కావచ్చు కాబట్టి ఇక్కడ చెప్పలేదు; రచయితల పేర్లు, నవలల పేర్లు కూడా ఇవ్వలేదు.
