అనుప్రాసం

Anuprasa (alliteration)

అనుప్రాసం ఒక శబ్దాలంకారం: ఒకే హల్లు లేదా హల్లుల సమూహం మాటిమాటికీ వచ్చేలా పదాలను అమర్చి, ధ్వనిలో లయను, అందాన్ని కలిగించడం.

Anuprasa is a figure of sound in which the same consonant, or a group of consonants, recurs again and again in a line or sentence, giving the sound a rhythm and charm. It is comparable to alliteration, though not identical.

నిర్వచనం Definition

In anuprasa a consonant, or a group of consonants, recurs several times within a line of verse or a sentence. The repeated sound is pleasing to hear. Since it is a figure of sound, the beauty lies in the sound and not in the idea. Traditional treatises list kinds of anuprasa such as vrittyanuprasa, chekanuprasa, latanuprasa, shrutyanuprasa and antyanuprasa. Where one consonant recurs many times it is commonly called vrittyanuprasa; definitions of the other kinds differ slightly between works, so they are not explained here (subject to verification).

ఉపయోగం Where it is used

తెలుగు పద్యకవిత్వంలో అనుప్రాసం చాలా తరచుగా కనిపిస్తుంది; పద్యానికి నడకను, వినసొంపును ఇవ్వడానికి కవులు దీన్ని వాడతారు. సామెతలలో, నినాదాలలో, పాటలలో, నాలుక తిప్పే మాటలలో, వాడుక భాషలో కూడా ఇది సహజంగా కనిపిస్తుంది.

Anuprasa appears very frequently in Telugu verse, where poets use it to give a line movement and a pleasing sound. It also occurs naturally in proverbs, slogans, songs, tongue-twisters and everyday speech.

గమనికలు Notes

In anuprasa the sounds recur without the meaning of the repeated words changing; when a group of syllables recurs with different meanings it is yamakam instead. The prasa rule of prosody (the same consonant in the second syllable of each line of a verse) is a different matter and should not be confused with this figure. No example verses are given here.
