Definition
The sthayibhava of raudra rasa is krodha. Anger is aroused by such determinants as insult, injury, injustice or provocation by an enemy. Reddening eyes, a raised voice, gnashing teeth, seizing a weapon and harsh words are given as its outward signs (anubhavas).
Where it is used
Raudra appears in descriptions of battle, in curses, and in the angry declarations of characters who have been wronged. It often comes together with veera rasa, since both anger and vigour are present in a battle.
Notes
That the sthayibhava is krodha is generally accepted. Veera is not simply angry fighting: vigour is the source of veera, while anger is the source of raudra. No example verses are given.
