Vibhakti (case) is the ending, or the relation it expresses, that shows how a noun or pronoun stands to the verb and the other words of a sentence. With the same word, a change of case changes its role in the sentence.
Traditional grammar names the cases as follows, with these usual meanings:
Prathama: the form that names the subject (ramudu).

Tritiya: the means, or accompaniment, with words such as "cheta" and "to".
Chaturthi: to whom or for what, with "ku" or "kosam" (for example intiki, "to the house").

Shashthi: possession or relation, with words such as "yokka".

ఉపయోగం Where it is used
Every noun and pronoun in a sentence carries a case, so case is a basic tool for analysing a Telugu sentence. Schools set exercises asking which case a word is in. Case names are also used to explain which relation is dropped inside a compound. Verse shows older forms of the endings, and recognising them helps in reading classical works.
గమనికలు Notes
This is a textbook-level account. The number of cases, their boundaries, and the lists of endings differ by book, and modern linguists classify Telugu case differently. The endings given here are examples, not a complete list, and spoken forms may differ from literary ones (subject to verification).
