నిర్వచనం Definition

హల్లుకు ఒక్కొక్క అచ్చు గుర్తును చేరుస్తూ వచ్చే రూపాల వరుసను ఆ హల్లు గుణింతం అంటారు. అచ్చుకు ఉండే గుర్తును ఇక్కడ హల్లు చుట్టూ లేదా పైన, కింద, పక్కన రాస్తారు.

హల్లు రూపంలోనే 'అ' ఇమిడి ఉంటుంది, కాబట్టి గుణింతం హల్లు రూపంతో మొదలవుతుంది.

The row of forms obtained by adding the sign of each vowel to a consonant is called that consonant's gunintam. The sign of a vowel is written beside, above or below the consonant.

The consonant letter already contains "a", so the gunintam begins with the plain consonant form.

క గుణింతం: క, కా, కి, కీ, కు, కూ, కృ, కౄ, కె, కే, కై, కొ, కో, కౌ, కం, కః.

ప గుణింతం: ప, పా, పి, పీ, పు, పూ, పె, పే, పై, పొ, పో, పౌ, పం, పః.

ఇదే క్రమం ఇతర హల్లులకు కూడా వర్తిస్తుంది.

The ka gunintam: ka, kaa, ki, kii, ku, kuu, kru, kruu, ke, kee, kai, ko, koo, kau, kam, kah.

The pa gunintam (written without the vocalic ru forms): pa, paa, pi, pii, pu, puu, pe, pee, pai, po, poo, pau, pam, pah.

The same order applies to the other consonants.

గమనికలు Notes

గుణింతంలో ఎన్ని రూపాలు చెబుతారన్నది గ్రంథాన్ని బట్టి మారుతుంది: కొన్ని పుస్తకాలు ఋ, ౠ రూపాలను (కృ, కౄ) చేరుస్తాయి, మరికొన్ని చేర్చవు; అనుస్వారం, విసర్గ రూపాలను (కం, కః) కూడా కొన్ని పుస్తకాలు చేరుస్తాయి. అందుకే ఇక్కడ మొత్తం సంఖ్య ఇవ్వలేదు (సరిచూడాలి).

అచ్చు గుర్తులకు ఒక్కొక్కదానికి సంప్రదాయ పేర్లు ఉన్నాయి; వాటిని పాఠ్యపుస్తకాల్లో చూడవచ్చు.

How many forms a gunintam lists depends on the book: some include the vocalic ru and ruu forms (kru, kruu) and some do not; some also include the anuswaram and visargam forms (kam, kah). So no total is given here (subject to verification).
