తృతీయా తత్పురుషం తత్పురుష సమాసంలో ఒక ఉపరకం. ఇందులో పూర్వపదం తృతీయా విభక్తి భావంతో (దేనివల్ల, దేనిచేత అన్న అర్థంతో) ఉంటుంది, కానీ ఆ ప్రత్యయం సమాసంలో కనిపించదు. ఉత్తరపదం ప్రధానం.

ఉదాహరణకు 'బాణహతుడు' = బాణముచేత హతుడు.

The tritiya tatpurusha is a subkind of tatpurusha. Its first member carries the sense of the third case (by what, by means of what), but the ending does not appear in the compound. The last member is the main one.

For example, banahatudu = banamucheta hatudu, "one struck by an arrow".

గుర్తించే పద్ధతి: సమస్త పదాన్ని విప్పేటప్పుడు పూర్వపదం తర్వాత 'చేత' లేదా 'తో' చేర్చితే అర్థం సరిపోతే, ఉత్తరపదం ప్రధానంగా ఉంటే అది తృతీయా తత్పురుషం.

బాణహతుడు = బాణముచేత హతుడు.

ధనసంపన్నుడు = ధనముచేత సంపన్నుడు.

How to recognise it: when opening the compound up, put "cheta" or "to" after the first member. If the sense fits and the last member is the main one, it is a tritiya tatpurusha.

banahatudu = banamucheta hatudu, "struck by an arrow".

dhanasampannudu = dhanamucheta sampannudu, "one made rich by wealth".

In some cases books also take "to" (with, accompanied by) as a third-case sense; look in standard textbooks for such examples (subject to verification).
