నిర్వచనం Definition

ఇది బహువ్రీహి సమాసంలో ఒక ఉపరకం. 'వ్యధికరణ' అంటే వేరు వేరు విభక్తుల్లో ఉండడం. ఇందులో విగ్రహవాక్యంలో ఒక పదం ప్రథమలో, మరొక పదం వేరే విభక్తిలో (తరచు సప్తమిలో 'యందు' తో) ఉంటాయి. సమస్త పదం బయటి వ్యక్తిని సూచిస్తుంది.

ఉదాహరణకు 'చక్రపాణి' = చక్రము పాణియందు (చేతియందు) కలవాడు. 'చక్రము' ప్రథమలో, 'పాణి' సప్తమిలో ఉన్నాయి.

This is a subkind of bahuvrihi. "Vyadhikarana" means standing in different cases. Here, in the analysing phrase, one member stands in the first case and the other in another case (often the seventh, with "yandu"). The compound points to a person outside the words.

For example, chakrapani = chakramu paniyandu (in the hand) kalavadu, "one with a discus in the hand". "Chakramu" is in the first case and "pani" in the seventh.

గుర్తించే పద్ధతి: విగ్రహవాక్యంలో ఒక పదం ప్రథమలో, మరొకటి 'యందు' వంటి వేరే విభక్తి అర్థంతో వస్తే అది వ్యధికరణ బహువ్రీహి.

చక్రపాణి = చక్రము పాణియందు కలవాడు.

పద్మనాభుడు = పద్మము నాభియందు కలవాడు.

ఈ రెండు ఉదాహరణల్లోనూ ఒక పదం 'ఎక్కడ ఉంది' అని చెప్పే స్థలం (చేతి, నాభి) కావడం గమనించవచ్చు.

How to recognise it: if, in the analysing phrase, one word is in the first case and the other comes with another case meaning such as "yandu", it is a vyadhikarana bahuvrihi.

chakrapani = chakramu paniyandu kalavadu, "one with a discus in the hand".

padmanabhudu = padmamu nabhiyandu kalavadu, "one with a lotus in the navel".

In both examples one word names the place where the other is (hand, navel).

ఈ రకానికి వ్యతిరేకంగా, రెండు పదాలూ ఒకే విభక్తిలో ఉండే రకం సమానాధికరణ బహువ్రీహి (దీర్ఘబాహుడు). సప్తమి కాక ఇతర విభక్తులతో కూడిన వ్యధికరణ బహువ్రీహులను గ్రంథాలు చెప్పవచ్చు; ఉపరకాల పేర్లు, విభజన గ్రంథాన్ని బట్టి మారతాయి (సరిచూడాలి).

The opposite kind, in which both words stand in the same case, is the samanadhikarana bahuvrihi (dirghabahudu). Books may also describe vyadhikarana bahuvrihis with cases other than the seventh; the names and division of the subkinds differ by book (subject to verification).
