Definition

Saptami vibhakti is the form that tells where or when an action happens: the place or time that supports it. In the karaka scheme it is matched with the adhikarana, the locus.

Recognising it, examples

Ask "where?" or "when?".

atadu intlo kurchunnadu. (Where did he sit? In the house.)

ame urilo undi. (Where is she? In the village.)

intiyandu dipam veligindi. (Where? In the house; a literary form.)

Traditional books give andu and na as the endings, and modern Telugu uses "lo" widely. Which case "lo" belongs to differs by book (subject to verification).

Notes

This is a textbook-level account. The word "illu" changes to "inta-" when endings are added (intlo, intiki, inti). The endings on this page are examples only; examples of "na" used for time are not given here.
