Definition
In the terminology of Sanskrit grammar, "ac" means all the vowels. Achsandhis are the sandhis in which, where two words meet, the final vowel of the first word and the initial vowel of the second act on each other. They are also called svara sandhis (vowel sandhis).

In these sandhis the first vowel may simply drop (ramudu + atadu = ramudatadu), the two vowels may merge into one long vowel (vidya + arthi = vidyarthi), or a different vowel may appear (raja + indrudu = rajendrudu).
