హల్సంధులు

Halsandhulu (consonant sandhis)

హల్సంధులు అంటే సంధిలో హల్లు (వ్యంజనం) మార్పు చెందే లేదా ప్రధాన పాత్ర వహించే సంధులు. తెలుగులో గసడదవాదేశ సంధి; సంస్కృతంలో జశ్త్వ, శ్చుత్వ, అనునాసిక సంధులు దీనికి ఉదాహరణలు.

Halsandhis are the sandhis in which a consonant changes or plays the main part. Gasadadavadesa sandhi in Telugu, and jashtva, shchutva and anunasika sandhi in Sanskrit, are examples.

నిర్వచనం Definition

సంస్కృత వ్యాకరణ పరిభాషలో 'హల్' అంటే హల్లులన్నీ (వ్యంజనాలు). హల్సంధులు అంటే రెండు పదాలు కలిసే చోట ఒక హల్లు మరొక హల్లుగా మారే లేదా హల్లుకు సంబంధించిన మార్పు జరిగే సంధులు. వ్యంజనసంధులు అనే పేరు కూడా కనిపిస్తుంది.

In the terminology of Sanskrit grammar, "hal" means all the consonants. Halsandhis are the sandhis in which, where two words meet, one consonant turns into another or some other change involving a consonant takes place. They are also called vyanjana sandhis (consonant sandhis).

నియమం, ఉదాహరణలు Rule and examples

In Sanskrit words: dik + gajam = diggajam (jashtva sandhi), sat + janudu = sajjanudu (shchutva sandhi), vak + mayam = vangmayam (anunasika sandhi). In these the final consonant of the first word changes according to the sound that follows.

Among Telugu words, gasadadavadesa sandhi is cited as an example of this group: there a consonant takes the place of the first consonant of the following word.

Each sandhi has its own page in this section.

గమనికలు Notes

Which sandhis are counted as halsandhis can differ by book (subject to verification). In Sanskrit grammar the visarga sandhi is often given separately, as a third group.

Some textbooks also include other Telugu consonant sandhis that are not given as examples here; see those books for them.
