నిర్వచనం Definition

చేదర్థకం అంటే షరతును తెలిపే అసమాపక క్రియ: ఒక పని జరిగితే మరొక పని జరుగుతుందని చెప్పడం. ఇది వాక్యాన్ని ముగించదు; చివర సమాపక క్రియ వస్తుంది. ఈ రూపం '-ఇతే / -తే' తో ముగుస్తుంది (చదివితే, వస్తే, వెళ్తే).

Chedartham is the non-finite verb that states a condition: if one thing happens, another will happen. It does not close the sentence; a samapaka verb comes at the end. The form ends in "-ite / -te" (chadivite, vaste, velte).

క్త్వార్థకంలో రెండు పనులకూ కర్త ఒక్కరే; చేదర్థకంలో కర్తలు వేరుగా ఉండవచ్చు (అతడు వస్తే నేను చెబుతాను).

How to recognise it: if "if" fits the sentence and it states a condition, the verb is chedartham.

atadu chadivite nerchukuntadu. (If he reads, he will learn.)

atadu vaste chebutanu. (If he comes, I will tell.)

varsham kuriste pantalu pandutayi. (If it rains, the crops will grow.)

In the ktvartham the doer of both actions is the same; in the chedartham the doers may differ (atadu vaste nenu chebutanu).
