Definition
This is a subkind of karmadharaya. Avadharana means stressing a point ("only", "itself"). In this kind the first member joins the last with the sense "this very thing is that"; in the analysing phrase the first member takes the emphasising "ye / me".
For example, vidyadhanam = vidyaye dhanam, "knowledge itself is wealth".
Recognising it, examples
How to recognise it: open the compound up and add "ye / me" after the first word. If both words name one thing and the sense is "the first is the second", it is of this kind.
vidyadhanam = vidyaye dhanam, "knowledge itself is wealth".
In a tatpurusha a case relation such as "yokka" or "cheta" links the two words; here there is no such link but an identity: "the first is the second".
