విశేషణ పూర్వపద కర్మధారయ సమాసం

నిర్వచనం Definition

ఇది కర్మధారయ సమాసంలో ఒక ఉపరకం. ఇందులో పూర్వపదం విశేషణం (గుణం, రంగు, పరిమాణం వంటివి చెప్పేది), ఉత్తరపదం ఆ విశేషణం విశేషించే నామవాచకం (విశేష్యం).

ఉదాహరణకు 'నల్లకాకి' = నల్లని కాకి. 'నల్లని' విశేషణం; 'కాకి' విశేష్యం.

This is a subkind of karmadharaya. The first member is an adjective (a word giving a quality, colour or size) and the last member is the noun that the adjective describes (the visheshyam).

For example, nallakaki = nallani kaki, "a black crow". "Nallani" is the adjective and "kaki" the noun.

గుర్తించే పద్ధతి: సమస్త పదాన్ని విప్పితే మొదటి పదం విశేషణ రూపంలో ('-ని' లేదా 'అయిన'తో) రెండో పదానికి ముందు వస్తే, రెండూ ఒకే వస్తువును చెబుతుంటే అది విశేషణ పూర్వపద కర్మధారయం.

తెల్లకలువ = తెల్లని కలువ.

మంచిమాట = మంచి అయిన మాట.

ఎర్రచీర = ఎర్రని చీర.

పూర్వపదం విశేషణమైనా, సమస్త పదం మూడో వ్యక్తిని సూచిస్తే (ఉదా. 'నీలకంఠుడు') అది బహువ్రీహి కావచ్చు; అర్థాన్ని చూసి నిర్ణయించాలి.

How to recognise it: when the compound is opened up, if the first word comes before the second in adjective form (with "-ni" or "ayina") and both name one thing, it is a visheshana-purvapada karmadharaya.

tellakaluva = tellani kaluva, "a white water lily".

manchimata = manchi aina mata, "a good word".

erracheera = errani cheera, "a red sari".

Even when the first member is an adjective, if the whole word points to a third person (for example nilakanthudu), it may be a bahuvrihi; decide by the meaning.
