నిర్వచనం Definition

వృద్ధిసంధి సంస్కృత సంధుల్లో ఒకటి. పూర్వపదం చివర అ లేదా ఆ ఉండి, పరపదం ఏ/ఐ లేదా ఓ/ఔ తో మొదలైతే, ఆ రెండు అచ్చులూ కలిసి 'వృద్ధి' అచ్చు అవుతాయి. సంస్కృత వ్యాకరణంలో ఆ, ఐ, ఔ లను వృద్ధి స్వరాలు అంటారు.

Vriddhi sandhi is one of the Sanskrit sandhis. When the first word ends in a or aa and the second begins with e/ai or o/au, the two vowels merge into a single "vriddhi" vowel. In Sanskrit grammar aa, ai and au are called the vriddhi vowels.

నియమం, ఉదాహరణలు Rule and examples

నియమం (పాఠ్యపుస్తక రూపంలో): అ/ఆ + ఏ/ఐ = ఐ; అ/ఆ + ఓ/ఔ = ఔ.

ఉదాహరణలు:

ఏక + ఏక = ఏకైక

సదా + ఏవ = సదైవ

వన + ఔషధి = వనౌషధి

The rule, in textbook form: a/aa + e/ai = ai; a/aa + o/au = au.

Examples:

eka + eka = ekaika

sada + eva = sadaiva

vana + aushadhi = vanaushadhi
